Merry Mechanization Inc was founded in 1979 by Ted Merry and is also known as MMI or Merry Mech. MMI was formed in Minnesota and beginning in 1991 transitioned to Englewood, Florida. Before establishing MMI, Ted Merry was first employed as a manufacturing consulting engineer, specializing in process improvement and machine design. He began his career at IBM as a mechanization engineer from 1965 to 1971. Thereafter, until developing fabrication software in 1979, he was an independent consultant. During 1981, when SMP/IS was already in full-scale use by sheet metal fabricators, Ted continued to develop the software, and also formed a partnership with Pako Corporation to market the program. However, by the fall of 1984, Ted, along with his wife Valerie, acquired Pako's portion of the partnership, and directed the entire operation. Ted continued to oversee software development, in addition to sales and marketing, and Valerie set up and managed administration and operations. Soon thereafter, a marketing manager was hired, and later on additional programmers and sales staff were employed, and so the company continued to grow. Today, MMI’s Englewood headquarters provides all services: Accounting, Administration, Customer Support, Development, Marketing, Sales, and Training. Since its founding, MMI’s primary market has been the sheet metal fabrication industry. SMP/IS has been continuously upgraded and enhanced to provide industry leading functionality and productivity. In part, Merry Mechanization’s Mission Statement says: “The mission of Merry Mechanization, Inc. is to be a company that… That was Ted Merry’s goal in 1979… that is MMI’s goal today. |
