Create 3D formed part models from 2D flat geometry.  Simply read in the file, add bend lines where appropriate, and automatically fold up the model.

Fabricators who accept 2D, undimensioned flat files from their customers use SMP/IS to great advantage.  Easy-to-use options will allow you to:

  • create new bend lines on the flat pattern
  • define existing lines as bend lines
  • add or delete notes to your geometry
  • set a variety of parameters including direction, bend deductions, radius, and the angle
  • alter any of these parameters through a few simple keystrokes
  • automatically change the typical thickness, K-factor, or radius

By using the copy/mirror option in our 2D CAD system, you can copy a portion of the flat and mirror it to quickly complete the flat pattern.

Each bend can be folded up individually and plotted to produce visual instructions for the brake press operator.  Once you complete your flat pattern, the 2D part information is automatically transferred into a 3D model through our Autotracking process.  Once in the Formed Part Modeler, you can manually dimension the orthographic views to ensure accurate bend locations, and make any other changes needed.  The 3D part is easily checked for manufacturability and then automatically unfolded into a fully-dimensioned 100% accurate flat pattern.
