Associativity enables you to modify parts quickly and easily. Any changes made to your formed part model are automatically updated in the flat pattern and NC program. After you have completed all necessary changes and exit the Formed Part Modeler, SMP/IS will instantly recalculate the flat pattern with your desired changes and automatically update the existing tool path.

Stretch, shrink, add and subtract flanges, adjust the 3D formed part or flat pattern, and the NC process is automatically updated.

The program easily accommodates engineering changes. The first and sometimes most crucial type of change is adjusting the thickness. This, of course, affects the bend deductions and totally adjusts the hit locations. SMP/IS will automatically change the thickness throughout the entire 3D formed part model with a simple keystroke. The new bend deduction is adjusted throughout all of the bends. The flat is then recalculated and fully dimensioned.

The new flat is then carried into the NC programming process. All of the hits are automatically adjusted to accommodate the new bend allowance. The tooling, tabs, scallop extension heights, and tool order are all maintained, so the NC program is accomplished as intended.

When holes are added, removed, relocated, or the description is changed, these adjustments can be handled in the 3D model, an isometric view, or even the flat pattern.

SMP/IS handles other engineering changes such as changing the material, adjusting the radius on one or all of the bends, changing from one machine to another, flipping flanges the opposite direction, gridding out different types of parts on a sheet, and many, many more.

It even adjusts the tooling to accommodate the edge or corner tabs you have defined. It is not necessary to recalculate flat patterns and regenerate tool paths.

When a flange is lengthened or shortened, SMP/IS will automatically add, subtract, or slide hits to accommodate for any changes to the formed part or flat pattern. If radius corners are changed or added, the program will also adjust the NC programming. Any tooling changes or tab insertions will remain active when the part is adjusted. Internal hits that were nibbled or slugged out will also automatically adjust.

With Associativity, you can create new parts in seconds simply by modifying your past work.
